Crest Whitestrips #PGmom

Did you know Canada..  now that my little man is 3 months old, I'm *trying* to take better care of myself, because Mom's need to feel good about themselves too!

I got a nice new haircut, painted my nails and for the first time ever - tried Crest Whitestrips!

If you follow me on Twitter you'll know it was a spur of the moment decision at 7pm on a week night, and I am so happy I did!

It's literally just two strips, they already have the whitening gel on them, so just peel them off, stick them on your front teeth, top and bottom and let them go!  You can keep them on for 5 minutes, 30 or 2 hours with the Intensive Professional Effects box.  I KNOW what you're saying, 2 hours, what?!  But seriously, it was fine.  You can still drink water during the 2 hours, everything stays in the strips with their Advanced Seal, so you're not foaming up or anything.

I tried to take a picture, it's hard to see, but I guess that's the point!  You can still talk normal and you're even safe to answer the door with them on, the 2 hours is no big deal.

Well worth it too!  A noticeable difference and I'm really, really happy I did it, I'll be using them again next year!  Have you tried them yet?

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory

Did you know Canada..  a couple weeks ago we surprised the boys with a trip to Cambridge Ontario to visit the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory (I had gotten a great WagJag deal) and then to Chuck E Cheese after.

The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is a small but very beautiful tropical garden with over 1000 free-flying butterflies.  There is also a couple staff members walking around to answer questions, one had a Vietnamese Walking Stick (bug) with her that creeped me out..haha.. but the boys enjoyed looking at it!

They also have a station with Chrysalides so you can see the different stages of growth as a caterpillar becomes a butterfly!

There are also some really cute birds flying around  and of course the butterflies flying around your head are the main attraction - a great atmosphere.  While not large enough for a full day it was a good hour or so, there is a gift shop and food available on site as well.  For us making a stop at Chuck E Cheese was a great way to end the day before the ride home.

Greenview Aviaries Park and Zoo

Did you know Canada..  last weekend we headed to a favourite place about an hour away - Greenview Aviaries Park and Zoo.  Not only do they have animals you can get up close to, touch and feed, they also have a really great play area for the kids and you can make it a full day for not too much money.

I thought I'd share a few pictures from our trip..

This little man really didn't like his hat and wasn't too interested to be in the windy outdoors, but he did enjoy looking around.

The boys had fun feeding some of the animals and learning all of their names.

The goats were kinda crazy!

But all the animals were really cute :-)

And we had SO MUCH FUN in the play area!

What Zoo's do you visit?

The Red Sands of PEI

Did you know Canada..  we all know about the red sands of PEI (and they are beautiful, trust me, I've been there twice and would go again in a heart beat) but do you know why they are red?

First a little about PEI, it's one of our three Maritime provinces and is the smallest in the nation in land area and in population.  In September 1864, Prince Edward Island hosted the Charlottetown Conference, which was the first meeting in the process leading to the Quebec Resolutions and the creation of Canada in 1867, though PEI did not end up joining right away.  It also, as many of us know, it very popular for it's potato production.  Producing 25% of Canada's potatoes.

(Chensiyuan)

Basically the soil is red because it has a lot of rust in it.  The soil has a high iron oxide content, which rusts on exposure to air.  Prince Edward Island was formed a long time ago on sedimentary bedrock of soft, red sandstone, which produces rich, red soil.

It also erodes very easily and PEI often ends up with a lot of red snow from wind storms in the winter season!

Teach My, Award Winning Learning kits

Did you know Canada..  we have been having fun introducing our little man to a new product - Teach My Baby Learning Kit.

Teach My, Award Winning Learning kits are developed my Canadian Christy Cook.  The kits are designed to have all your learning tools in one box.  Instead of buying a puzzle here, a flashcard there, a book somewhere else you can buy one kit, have everything together all in one box and they all match.  The box alone is a fantastic idea to keep all your teaching tools together instead of strewn about the house as they often were with my older boys.

We've been checking out the Teach My Baby Learning Kit and even at four months old we have been having lots of fun.  The kit includes...

  • 12 One Piece Puzzles
  • 6 Two Piece Puzzles
  • 6 Touch and Feel Flashcards
  • 6 Mirrored Flashcards
  • 6 Mirrored Nesting Blocks
  • 5 Finger Puppets
  • 4 Board Books
  • 1 Double-Sided Storyboard
  • Teaching Guide
  • Storage case

My little man already loves the finger puppets and touch and feel flashcards, we've been having fun reading the books too.  They've also been great tools to have my older boys work on their reading by reading to the baby - what a win-win!

Very interactive, cute, durable and stores so well, we are so happy with this kit.  I know we will be purchasing the Toddler and Preschooler kits as our little man grows.  What a fantastic gift idea for a baby shower, birth of a child, birthday or just a special present for the start of summer.

Kits are available for purchase at Walmart.ca, Staples.ca, Amazon.ca and teachmy.com!  We also have a fun surprise for our readers, enter below for your chance to win a Teach My Kit (a $39.99 value!).

Sears - The Baby's Room #SearsBabysRoom

Did you know Canada..  I am once again an Ambassador for Sears The Baby's Room, and I couldn't be more thrilled.  I was an ambassador during my pregnancy with my little man, all the way up to his birth in January and so excited to be on the other side as an ambassador with a newborn.  This way I'll be able to share the whole experience with you guys, give info and advice on every stage and let you know what worked best for me!

To start off I headed back to Sears in London ON to meet a new department manager and take a fresh look at The Baby's Room.  The Masonville location has been making a few changes and there is some more rearranging happening in the next few months.  They still have my favourite part, which is the nursery displays.  I love seeing the rooms out of the box so to speak, be able to sit in the chairs and touch everything.   It's also a great way to snap a single picture and show Dad-to-be, Gramma's, sisters, etc.. what theme you are loving and they can see all the pieces in one shot.

They now have a bigger display of playards, completely set up, which is so much nicer than looking at a box and wondering what it feels like, or is it really that colour.  Same with the high chairs.

Still a great selection of cozy blankets, receiving blankets, crib sheets, and more.  All from our favourite - Carter's!  I already own all of those monkey ones..haha..  did I ever show you my son's room set up with his Carter's monkey crib sheets, and the big monkeys on the wall?

The travel systems are still very accessible, which I love, everything can be touch, tested, rolled around.  I disliked the double stroller I had for my twins so I was VERY serious about my stroller this time around and had to try so many before I was satisfied I found the one.  And this is one of my tips for you - touch, feel, and test everything!  Because some of these products will be used day  in and day out for a few years, you have to love it or you will begin to hate it very quickly, trust me.  And when you hate your stroller or car seat, etc.. you begin to dread going out and that's no fun for you or your little one.

The feeding area still has lots of options, so does that bath and accessories and gifting.  Feeding gets very important to you and you might have to go through a couple styles until you find the one that works for you and your baby, so don't over buy until you find the right product.

Great sales news!!  The Baby’s Room One Year Anniversary Sale is here! From May 24 to June 5 The Baby’s Room will be saying a big THANK YOU to all who’ve made it such a successful first year.  A great time to stock up on your favourites, try a new product, maybe get that piece of furniture you've been eyeing.  Head into Sears The Baby's Room to see what's on sale! And let us know what you get :-)

Disclosure: I am part of the Sears The Baby’s Room Ambassador program with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
